Do not try to download to a chromebook. There is not enough storage space. The download server is slow (it’s probably in Europe). It took 3 hrs to download the zip to a windows 10 laptop. Extracting the zip is quick. I found some freeware (RUFUS) that converted my 64GB usb flash drive from exFAT to FAT32. Loading the extracted files on the flash drive was quick. Lastly, I entered the code and uploaded the 2023 bmw maps into my 2015 bmw x5, with engine running. The upload took 42 minutes.
